RWA Reserve
Trading builds the reserve. Redemption burns $ASTRA.
Overview
The RWA Reserve connects $ASTRA trading activity with the accumulation of tokenized real-world assets.
A designated portion of token trading fees automatically purchases supported tokenized assets for the reserve. These may include instruments linked to stocks, gold and other assets.
$ASTRA holders can access those reserve assets through redemption: exchange $ASTRA for an eligible allocation of RWA assets, with the submitted $ASTRA permanently burned.
Trading activity builds the reserve
When users trade $ASTRA through supported fee-bearing routes, part of the trading fee is allocated to the reserve.
The automated process uses those funds to purchase supported tokenized assets, adding them to the reserve’s holdings.
This gives trading activity a purpose beyond the trade itself: it helps fund an asset reserve connected to the token.
Redeem assets by burning $ASTRA
Holders can choose to redeem $ASTRA through the reserve instead of selling those tokens on the market.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Choose | Enter the amount of $ASTRA you want to redeem |
| Review | See the reserve assets available in exchange and the applicable terms |
| Confirm | Authorize the redemption |
| Burn | The submitted $ASTRA is permanently destroyed |
| Receive | The corresponding RWA assets are transferred to your wallet |
The exchange follows the reserve’s redemption rules and runs through the supported automated infrastructure.
You receive reserve assets. Your redeemed $ASTRA leaves circulation permanently.
A simple example
Those redeemed tokens are never placed on the market for sale and cannot return to circulation.
The experience resembles a direct exchange with the reserve: $ASTRA goes in, reserve assets come out.
Each redemption leaves value behind
When a holder redeems $ASTRA, a percentage of the redemption value stays in the RWA Reserve. The submitted tokens are permanently burned, while the holder receives the remaining asset allocation.
Under proportional redemption, this leaves more reserve value per remaining $ASTRA token, assuming asset prices remain unchanged.
Fewer tokens remain. Part of the redeemed value stays. New trading fees continue funding asset purchases.
The reserve gives $ASTRA an asset-based redemption mechanism alongside market trading. Its value and availability depend on the assets held and the redemption rules; it does not guarantee a minimum market price.
Two mechanisms working together
Trading adds assets.
Designated trading fees fund purchases for the reserve.
Redemption removes tokens.
Holders receive reserve assets while permanently reducing the remaining $ASTRA supply.
Each redemption reduces both the reserve’s holdings and the token supply. Continued fee contributions can add new assets to the reserve over time.
What determines a redemption
The assets received depend on the reserve’s holdings, their valuation and the applicable redemption calculation.
The available assets, exchange calculation, any charges and execution conditions will be shown before confirmation. Redemption value may differ from the market value of the $ASTRA submitted.
Reserve assets can rise or fall in value. Tokenized instruments also have their own issuer terms and may provide different rights from directly owning the underlying asset.
Within the Astra economy
The RWA Reserve gives $ASTRA holders a way to exchange tokens for accumulated assets through a mechanism that permanently burns the redeemed tokens.
It serves a different purpose from the Astra Pass Vault, which handles designated distributions for eligible Pass holders.
Together with buybacks and burns, the reserve connects token activity to asset accumulation and a declining token supply.
